About Us

Wayne the Warrior

Bravery lives inside everyone — sometimes it just needs a little help to shine through.

Today, Wayne has to visit the hospital again, and even though he’s nervous, he’s not alone. With his faithful sidekick Fuzzy by his side, Wayne transforms into Wayne the Warrior — a superhero ready to face every new adventure with courage and a smile!

Through cheerful illustrations and gentle storytelling, Wayne and Fuzzy show young readers what to expect at the hospital — from stethoscopes and IVs to the marks of bravery they might find on their own bodies.

Perfect for children ages 2–8, this uplifting story helps kids (and their grown-ups) discover that courage, friendship, and imagination can make even the scariest days a little brighter.

About the author

Kelli Argento is a former elementary teacher and proud boy mom to an amazing heart warrior. Inspired by her son’s journey with a congenital heart defect, she wrote Wayne the Warrior to help children face hospital visits with courage, comfort, and a smile.

During her family’s many nights in the hospital, Kelli realized how few children’s stories spoke honestly — yet joyfully — about the hospital experience. Her goal became clear: to create a story that inspires bravery, offers comfort, and brings a little fun to even the toughest days.

Wayne the Warrior is for every child who has faced a hospital stay — and for the heroes who stand beside them.

Inspiration

After welcoming their son in 2018, Kelli Argento and her family were rushed from hospital to hospital before learning he had a congenital heart defect — Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. In short, it meant he would need three open-heart surgeries before the age of five. The first came when he was just one week old, the second at four months, and the third just before his fourth birthday.

Over the years, Kelli’s family has spent over 100 days in the hospital — not counting additional stays for procedures or illnesses. Through it all, her son has shown incredible strength, resilience, and joy. Today, he is a thriving, energetic explorer who continues to inspire Kelli every day.

His courage became the heart of Wayne the Warrior — a story created to help other children and families find bravery, comfort, and hope in their own hospital journeys.

We’ve been fortunate to build wonderful relationships with surgeons, doctors, nurses, therapists, caregivers, and other families along our journey. Our goal has always been to support children — and the incredible villages that stand beside them — through the most uncertain and frightening times.

We’ve learned so much from those who have cared for us, and we carry deep gratitude for their guidance and compassion. Now, we hope to give back by offering the same comfort, understanding, and encouragement to others walking a similar path.
